Jaipur, Dec 21: Team ‘Trash to Treasure’ of Maharana Mewar Public School (MMPS) Udaipur bagged top honours at the finals of the second edition of JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU) “My City,My Lab” Ideathon 2025, wining cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 after an intense national- level competition that drew more than 250 participants from across the country.
The MMPS Udaipur team, which developed biodegradable sanitary napkins from water hyacinth, was judged the top scorer in the final round of the competition.
The winning teams of the competition, which encourages school students to find practical solutions to real-world problems aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), were awarded at a ceremony held at the JKLU campus on December 21.
Team ‘Auxilium’ from Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, Kolkata which developed an AI- powered diagnostic briefcase for enabling on-site health screening for people in remoteplaces was awarded the 1 st Runner-Up trophy and cash prize of Rs. 75,000. The 2 nd Runner-Up trophy and cash prize of Rs 50,000 was bagged by Team ‘ECOSPROUT’ from Delhi Public School Indore for developing biodegradable nursery mould to reduce plastic usage in nurseries.
The winning teams received the awards from Chief Guest of the event, Shri Kalicharan Saraf, an eight-time MLA and a former Minister for Medical and Health, Government of Rajasthan and Guest of Honour, Shri Ramesh Chandra Saini, Chairman, License Samiti.
“I am extremely happy that JKLU Ideathon is inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The ideas presented at the Ideathon are teaching the new generation that development is truly inclusive when it reaches the last person in society — whether in education, employment, health, social integration, or technology,” Shri Saraf said, addressing the Ideathon participants.
“I would like to congratulate all the three winning teams of the competition. However, inmy eyes, every participant in this competition is a winner because you have thought, worked hard, and shown the courage to create something new. This courage will takeyou to new heights in the future,” he added.
Out of the over 250 participants who registered for the competition, 11 teams made it to the final round and presented their ideas before the jury on JKLU campus.Congratulating all the participants of Ideathon 2025, Professor Vijaysekhar Chellaboina, Vice Chancellor, JK Lakshmipat University, said, “By integrating the UN Sustainable

In the first edition of JKLU Ideathon held in 2024, Team Vayunigrah from Chinmaya International Residential School, Coimbatore; Team Future Agritech from D.A.V. Model School, Durgapur; and Team Science on Wheels from Sparkling Mindz Global School, Bengaluru came first, second and third, respectively.
