Uber, on-demand ride-sharing company, launched UberJOURNEYS; a collection of video-stories about the lives of riders and driver-partners. Complementing the recently launched ‘Apnapan’ campaign, this initiative aims to tell the extraordinary stories of everyday people who use the Uber platform.
Sanjay Gupta, Head of Marketing, Uber India, said, “In the months prior to the launch of our mass media campaign, we spent hours in conversation with both riders and driver-partners, to understand the role our platform plays in their lives. And having completed half a billion rides in India – the stories we heard of their everyday lives were nothing short of inspirational. These stories needed a platform to be told and this was the genesis of UberJOURNEYS – a showcase of the extraordinary journeys of ordinary people.”
The first UberJOURNEYS video, titled ‘The World in Voices’, brings to life the inspiring story of Ruchir Falodiya, a social media manager at TATA CLiQ. Like many others, Ruchir relies on Uber for his daily commute. But unlike many, he has a deeper connection with technology. Visually impaired from birth, Ruchir sees the world in voices – one that he says is full of possibilities and great adventures. With an aim to contribute to open-source technology and build products that will help visually impaired people like him, Ruchir started coding at the age of 15.
Uber is committed to building solutions that support mobility for all. With VoiceOver iOS, Android TalkBack, and wireless braille display compatibility, Uber is enabling millions in the visually impaired and low vision community to seek a greater degree of independence in their everyday lives. Riders like Ruchir reinforce Uber’s belief that when technology is paired with mobility, it will open up a future of opportunities and independence for all. Watch Ruchir’s story here.
Uber is working with Untold (premium content team from 22feet Tribal Worldwide) to identify and tell stories that help highlight the purpose and pursuit behind these journeys that Uber has been a part of. Rishabh Malhotra, co-founder, Untold, said, “Our focus has always been to tell stories that fascinate people and what better partner than Uber to help bring out people’s stories to the world. Uber operates in a space where it engages with customers and driver partners at every stage of the journey it is undertaking and that is where we come in.”
