Canon Inc. announced on 5 February that the year marks the 30th anniversary of its PowerShot digital compact camera series. To celebrate this milestone, the company will release a limited-edition PowerShot G7 X Mark III featuring a special colour variant along with a 30th anniversary logo.
Since the debut of the PowerShot 600 in July 1996, the PowerShot range has grown to meet the needs of a wide range of users. Designed to make high-quality photo and video capture easier, the lineup has been widely adopted by everyone from beginners to advanced enthusiasts. By December 2025, the total global production of compact digital cameras, including the IXUS series, had surpassed 200 million units.
Today, the PowerShot lineup includes three main series tailored to different lifestyles: the G series, known for delivering high image quality and advanced features in compact bodies; the V series, designed for seamless and advanced video shooting; and the SX series, offering powerful zoom capabilities.
Canon remains committed to meeting evolving user demands through continued innovation in the PowerShot series, aiming to enhance creative expression and support the growth of photo and video culture.
Launch of the PowerShot 30th Anniversary Commemorative Edition
Originally introduced in August 2019, the PowerShot G7 X Mark III features a 1.0-inch stacked CMOS sensor with approximately 20.1 effective megapixels, a bright lens with a large maximum aperture, and a 4.2x zoom. In addition to still photography, it includes user-friendly video features such as a dedicated vlog recording mode.
Marking three decades of innovation, the limited-edition model comes in an exclusive graphite finish, includes a knurled control ring, and features a distinctive 30th anniversary logo. It also comes with special commemorative packaging and a collector’s wrist strap, both carrying the anniversary branding—making it not just a camera, but a collectible piece of history.
