On the occasion of Global Recycling Day, Control Z, one of India’s leading players in premium renewed smartphones, announced that it has successfully renewed 1 Lakh smartphones since its inception, reinforcing the growing role of device renewal in extending the lifecycle of electronics.
Control Z is building a new category of premium renewed smartphones that feel, function, and perform like new devices while costing nearly half the price of new phones. By focusing on quality, process, and customer experience, the company aims to redefine how consumers view renewed smartphones in India.
Control Z restores pre-owned smartphones through a highly advanced renewal process and sells them as “like-new” devices. Each device comes with 100% battery health, an 18-month warranty, and significantly lower pricing compared to new smartphones, offering customers strong economic value without compromising on performance.
The company primarily focuses on iPhones and selects Android devices. Instead of simply reselling used phones, Control Z completely renews each device so that customers experience no compromise in functionality, reliability, or appearance.
Commenting on the same, Mr. Yug Bhatia, Founder & CEO, ControlZ, said: “Smartphones today are extremely advanced devices, but their lifecycle is often much shorter than it needs to be. At Control Z, our goal is to extend that lifecycle through a rigorous renewal process so that customers can experience a device that feels and performs like new, but at a significantly lower price. Crossing the milestone of 1 Lakh renewed smartphones reflects the growing trust consumers are placing in high-quality renewed devices.
“On Global Recycling Day, it’s also a reminder that extending the life of electronics is one of the most practical ways to reduce unnecessary waste while making technology more accessible.”, he further added.
All smartphones are renewed at Control Z’s central facility in Gurgaon, where the process closely mirrors the systems used in new smartphone manufacturing plants. Each device undergoes complete disassembly and reassembly, with components replaced wherever necessary. The devices are then tested across multiple quality parameters. Functional testing is fully automated, while cosmetic inspection uses AI-powered systems to detect even the smallest scratches or dents. The phones are also tested using X-ray systems to ensure internal integrity.
While the company’s operations naturally contribute to reducing electronic waste, Control Z positions itself primarily around economic value for consumers. By offering high-quality smartphones at significantly lower prices, the company solves a real affordability challenge in the market, with sustainability emerging as a natural outcome.
